In 1863 they came to Milford living on a farm 1 mile east of town. Three of their sons were Eli, Lauren, and Freeman. A daughter Lela married Joe Thompson, a brother of Mrs. John Hendrickson. Freeman McConoughey was born in 1874 and died in 1961. He was a graduate of Creighton University Medical College. He started his practice of medicine in Sciola, Iowa.
