A funeral card in file shows; In Memory Of, Myrtle Thompson, 6/26/1904, Delft, Minn., April 3, 1992, Shoshone, Idaho, Graveside Services, Dry Creek cemetery, Boise, Idaho, Tuesday, 4:00 p. m., April 7, 1992, Officiating, Pastor Mark T. Davis, First Presbyterian Church, Eulogy Warren Roe, Music By Gordon Eichmann, Selections, The Old Rugged Cross, Amazing Grace, Just a Closer Walk With Thee, Funeral Directors Alden-Waggoner Chapel. Eulogy given by Warren ROE Jr. at graveside services; Myrtle Marion June Thompson, Myrtle Marion June (Faust) Thompson was born June 27, 1904, in Bingham Lake, Minnesota. She grew up and was educated as a school teacher and taught school in the Carson, N. D. area. In due time she married and had seven children by her first husband Kenneth A. Pfliiger, who died suddenly when the last child was only two weeks old. For a time things were very difficult for this young widow trying to raise, on her own, seven children. But she met a widower, Bertrum A. Thompson, who also was having a difficult time in raising four children of his own. They fell in love, and were married on March 10, 1943. Myrtle now had eleven children to raise, and soon had one more child by Bert Thompson, which made an even dozen. She had found her life's work. All twelve children were raised together. And to her everlasting credit were raised to consider each other as full brothers and sisters; and to consider Myrtle and Bert as their mother and father-- a strong, cohesive, and loving family. On April 3, 1992, our Heavenly Father smiled upon Myrtle, and taking her by the hand, gently led her to that house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. She is survived by nine children: Clifford Thompson, Carol Roe, Sharon Galindo, Wilma (Rusty) Curtis,Kathleen Thompson, Bill Pfliiger, Roger Pfliiger, Peggy Satterfield, and Bob Pfliiger; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bert Thompson; and three children: Keith Pfliiger, Warren Thompson, and Virgil Thompson. Myrtle had a long and fulfilling life, centered around her family and friends. Her favorite things were: of course her family,; fishing, sewing, and crocheting. My memories of Myrtle are numerous, but many concern fishing. It was frustrating to fish with Myrtle. She usually caught the most fish . I remember taking her fishing on Catherine Creek, she was supposed to be catching trout, but I swear, in every hole she hooked either a steelhead or a salmon . Myrtle liked to argue with me. It was a fun thing between us. We were friends. A somewhat unusual situation between a son-in-law and mother-in-law. I kow you all have similar memories. Cherish these, and remember her as she was before her illness. We have gathered here today to pay a loving tribute to the memory of Myrtle Thompson who passed into the fullness of immortal life, and now abides in the mercy and care of our heavenly father. All of you have come together in loving sympathy, faith, hope, and loving care. The family thanks you for the support and love you have shown , just by your presence. God permitted us to have Myrtle's loving presence with us for a long life. We should be grateful for this time; but her earthly work being done , God called her home, to a far better place. Jesus said: " I am the resurrection and the life, whosoever believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live." In this hour of Myrtle's victory, we should rejoice that we can see far enough into the future to know that all is well with her. She is but a step in advance of us, and we thank our Creator that we had her and loved her for a while. LET US PRAY Our FATHER, whose love has created us and given us the high and solemn Privilege of life. We thank you for the assurance that thou has given us in the eternal life, which lies beyond death. In these moments, as we join together in solemn tribute and loving memory; deepen our sympathy, increase our faith, and brighten our hope. May we not mourn as those for whom there is no hope. Rather may we look forward with assurance to a morning's joy with thee. We thank thee for the life of her, beloved by us and dear to the hearts of many; for her thoughtfulness of others, for her gentle heart and hands, for her example of lowly courtesy, we give thee grateful thanks. Bless and console all who are precious to her, and unto whom she is dear. Inspire us with patience and fortitude, that together in friendliness and love we may help to lift the burden of woe from thy bereaved children. May we be filled with sympathy for the suffering of others, and inspired to higher service, and noble living. So may the memory of our dear departed be a blessing unto us forever. AMEN.
